Possible steps to avoid drunk driving accidents during holidays

While the holidays are a time of year for decking the halls with boughs of holly and being jolly, there are other considerations to take into account as well. A major factor people should take into account before leaving on their holiday road trip this year is to consider the sheer number of people who will be traveling. Drunk driving accidents are also on the rise this time of year due to negligent drivers. Leaving earlier and driving defensively could help Missouri drivers avoid accidents on the road this season.

Recently, multiple vehicles were involved in an accident in St. Louis. Missouri Highway Patrol officials report that a Grand Prix driving eastbound swerved into oncoming traffic. The vehicle collided with a Ford Explorer, subsequently causing the SUV to flip over.

Another accident resulted due to the collision when a vehicle rear-ended another car in the traffic that slowed for the overturned SUV. The Grand Prix driver was arrested shortly after the accident for driving under the influence. The drivers injured in the accident are being treated for their injuries.

There are an abundance of factors to take into consideration when hitting the road for holiday travel. Taking time to drive safely and watch out for fellow drivers during peak holiday traffic may be the best course of action in winter travel conditions. Missouri residents can take action to avoid accidents during the holidays. No person has a right to put the safety of others at risk by drinking and driving. In the event of drunk driving accidents, individuals and loved ones may wish to take action by filing a civil lawsuit to obtain compensation for pain and suffering.
