Mother is dead after 1 of Missouri's drunk driving accidents

Any accident can be frightening for those involved as well as their family members. Drunk driving accidents in Missouri are probably some of the worst when it comes to injuries. One such accident recently resulted in the death of a mother and minor injuries for her son.

Recently, police attempted to stop a man for unknown reasons. However, the 31-year-old man sped away without stopping. Police pursued him initially. Eventually, however, the police chase ended but authorities state that the man did not stop speeding.

Apparently, he was not alone in the vehicle at the time. A 31-year-old woman and her 1-year-old son were ejected from the vehicle when it crashed. The woman passed away from her injuries. The young boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Tests reportedly showed that the man was under the influence of alcohol at the time. The man is being charged with involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment and second-degree murder. Because of two previous felony convictions, the Missouri man is considered a persistent offender. This is information that could prove to be helpful should the family of the woman decide to pursue a wrongful death claim, should prosecutors obtain a conviction against the man.

The driver is now facing criminal charges after one of the most recent drunk driving accidents in Missouri. The family of the deceased woman may benefit from knowing that there are legal options that could help them recover from this tragic accident. The family can file a wrongful death claim against the driver for the death of the woman and a personal injury claim for the injuries that the young boy suffered, regardless of whether a criminal conviction is obtained. If evidence can successfully establish liability, monetary damages may be awarded to assist with any expenses that followed as a result of the accident.
