A two-car crash near Jackson claimed the life of one person and injured three others. A preliminary investigation revealed that one car may have veered left of the center of the roadway and struck the second car head-on. Head-on collisions in Missouri are often fatal, and in this tragedy, one person lost her life.

At about 10:40 a.m., a 59-year-old was driving a car east on Highway 72, and the driver was approaching an intersection. The investigators suspect that the driver left the eastbound lanes and crossed into the westbound lanes. Whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash is unknown at this time. It is also unknown if the driver may have been texting or was otherwise distracted.

The first car hit the second head-on, causing the second car to flip over and trap the driver. The other two occupants, a 41-year-old man and a 7-year-old girl, had to be taken to an area hospital for moderate injuries. The driver of the first car suffered minor injuries. However, the driver of the second car was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, and she later lost her life due to those injuries.

Head-on collisions often result in the serious injury of occupants in both vehicles. In this case, three persons were injured, and one woman lost her life. As the investigation into the Missouri crash continues, the woman’s family may choose to initiate a wrongful death lawsuit. If successful, the suit could reimburse the family for damages, including funeral costs and other financial damages as provided by our laws.
