A recent accident in Missouri has taken the lives of two individuals and injured two others. Apparently, the truck accident transpired when a tractor trailer attempted to make a left-hand turn as it was heading northbound. However, as the driver attempted to make this turn, a smaller truck was traveling southbound. Unfortunately, the result was a deadly collision.

Reportedly, the tractor trailer pulled in front of the smaller pickup truck, resulting in the truck getting caught beneath the tractor trailer. Two men, ages 28 and 30, were both killed in the accident. A 34-year-old male was listed in serious condition, while the 57-year-old tractor trailer driver suffered moderate injuries.

It is unclear if the driver of the tractor trailer misjudged the distance between the vehicles or simply did not see the pickup truck heading in his direction before attempting to make the turn. It is also unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved. These are factors that will be determined during the investigation of the truck accident as toxicology reports are typically ordered as a matter of course in fatal accident cases.

Victims and families of deceased victims may benefit from knowing that they have legal rights following a truck accident in Missouri. A lawsuit can typically be brought against those parties whose negligence is deemed to have caused or contributed to the wreck and fatalities or injuries that resulted. A successfully litigated claim will hopefully keep a similar incident from happening in the future while providing compensatory damages to a seriously injured victim, or the family of a deceased victim, to provide relief for the financial burdens that normally accompany these tragedies.
