Cars are a vital piece of many people’s lives in the state of Missouri. Despite the fact that we rely so heavily upon them, they are not immune from defects. In fact, because cars are made up of so many components, there are many opportunities for things to go wrong. When businesses learn of a defective product it is possible that a recall will be issued. This was the case earlier this week with several SUVs sold by Chrysler.
The first recall is of 221,000 Jeep Wrangler SUVs. The reason for the recall is a problem with a component of the power-steering. Under some circumstances that component could end up rubbing against an oil cooler line running from the transmission. The friction could cause the oiler cooler line to suffer from premature wear. The affected vehicles are from model years 2012 and 2013 and total 221,000.
In addition, two vehicles, Compass SUVs and Jeep Patriot, have been recalled due to issues with a sensor designed to warn a rollover is likely to happen. If the sensor does not work properly, safety features such as side-curtain airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners could fail to function the way they are intended to. The model years included in this recall are from 2010 to 2012 and total approximately 409,000.
When a motor vehicle does not work the way it is intended, it is possible that a driver could lose control, leading to a car crash could occur. Such a crash could result in injuries to the individuals inside the defective car as well as others on the road. In these instances it is possible that injured individuals could file a products liability lawsuit. Thus far it does not appear that anyone has been injured as a result of the issues with any of the Chrysler vehicles.
